Speed Weaponry or Scare Tactic?

Anyone ever notice that a rider on a disc wheel sounds a little like the approach of the end of the world? I'm sure these things are fantastic and worth every penny of their insane cost but can't they figure out how to make them quieter??? I'm convinced their sole purpose is more scare tactic than aerodynamics.

  1. They do tend to have a very specific sound. Sort of like someone standing up while really digging in on a steep hill. It's all power transfer and aero, but worth every penny. Nah. People like you don't need them, cause you already are strong enough to wip the pants of most in the cycling world. :-)
